This Varietal is grown by Andres Ramirez at Finca El Laguito. This Microlot is 100% Castillo. This variety was developed by Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros. It is more productive than caturra and resistant to coffee leaf rust.
This coffee is picked, floated and hand sorted. Later, cherries were placed inside plastic tanks without oxygen for 50 hours while adding C02. Afterwards, the cherries were depulped and placed inside grain pro bags without oxygen for 50 hours while adding C02. It was then gently washed and left to dry on raised beds until ideal moisture content was achieved An experience that Mena Abarca believes justifies their immense efforts and are up for the ongoing challenges to improve and impress with every new season.
