Background Information
Barokah Kerinci is produced by the Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative, a collective of 320 smallholder farmers living on a plateau at the foot of Mount Kerinci.
This active volcano, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, enriches the soil with its historic eruptions, creating ideal conditions for coffee cultivation.
Founded in 2017 and led by the visionary Triyono, the cooperative has rapidly developed into a hub of innovation and quality.
With nine UPH collection centres—small washing stations where cherries are processed before moving to the central mill—the cooperative ensures that every step of production is meticulously overseen.
This Anaerobic Natural lot begins with cherries being floated and sorted for ripeness.
Only the best cherries are sealed in airtight 20kg plastic bags for 7 days, allowing them to undergo anaerobic fermentation in cool, controlled conditions.
After fermentation, the cherries are sun-dried on raised beds for 20–23 days, protected under domes to ensure even drying.
The result? A coffee bursting with vibrant fruit notes, a velvety body, and a lingering sweetness that showcases the exceptional potential of Sumatran coffee.
