Doña Nubia Loaiza originates from a rich heritage of coffee farming, inheriting Santa Fé, her family's traditional estate spanning 37 hectares and nestled at an elevation of 1850 meters above sea level in Pijao Quindio. The estate is adorned with an array of shade trees such as Guamo, Chachafruto, and Cedro, while also cultivating bananas, plantains, guavas, and avocados. Notably, her farm proudly holds Rain Forest Alliance certification.
Specializing in the cultivation of Castillo and Yellow Caturra varieties, Doña Nubia favors the Washed processing method for coffee production. Although she occasionally dabbles in producing Naturals and Honeys, the unpredictable weather in Pijao poses limitations on their yield. Nevertheless, she harbors a strong desire to expand her Honey processing endeavors, contingent upon favorable weather conditions.
Acknowledging the tangible impacts of climate change on her coffee farm, Doña Nubia observes a gradual decline in annual yield. To address these challenges, she prioritizes implementing measures to enhance plant health, with invaluable support from Cofinet.
